OK got my prescription, it is for a CPAP
But I got the test results... maybe you guys can help me figure out the results...
TOTAL RECORDING TIME 216.8 M
TOTAL SLEEP TIME 152.5 M
AT OPTIMAL PRESSURE:
TOTAL SLEEP RECORDING TIME: 182.9 M
TOTAL SLEEP TIME: 132.3 M
TOTAL REM SLEEP: 38 M
TOTAL SUPINE TIME: 0.0
AVG OXYGEN SATURATION: 97.4
LOWEST: 94%
NO APNEA HYPOPNEA INDEX NUMBERS NOTED
SLEEP EFFICIANCY AFTER ONSET (WITH CPAP ON)
93.1%
HYPOPNREA EPISODES
REM:19
NREM:21
TOTAL 40
SURPINE AHI: 22.4
NREM AHI: 11.4
NIN SURPINE AHI: 12.
REM AHI: 48.5
AVG INDEX 17.8
LIMB MOVEMENT WAS 148 PER HOUR W/O CPAP
LIMB AROUSAL (?) WAS 8.2 PER HOUR
It says both were increased after the CPAP was put on. It said treatment may be needed. Dopaminergic agents are the therapy of choice. The doctor mentioned possible treatment but nothing about Dopaminergic agents? I see that in the report.
Is there anything else you need to know? It says the nasal cpap at 5cm of water pressure eliminated all respiratory needs.
Got my sleep study and a prescription...

Welcome to cpap. I don't have your sleep study results to compare with the titration numbers. It does seem that the titration study worked well for you and a relatively low pressure of 5 is reassuring. The Dr. seems most concerned about your arm and/or leg movments.

Funny thing is, he didn't really seemed concerned about the leg movement when I met with him in the office. I didn't even know about the Dopaminergic agents thing until I read the paperwork.
I have the sleep study next to me, what is it you need to know? I typed out what I thought was relevent, but maybe I missed something?
Now I just need to find a good CPAP. The one the DME recommended isn't available online.

"Dopaminergic" drugs are drugs such as dopamine, which is used for involuntary limb movements. It is prescribed both for Parkinson's disease and Restless leg movment.
The two most important numbers to compare are AHI (apnea + hypopnea index) or RDI (respiratory distubance index). They are the same and indicate the average number of times that you stopped breathing each hour. Anything over 30 is considered serious.
The other is the oxygen saturation level. Doctors become concerned with anything less that 95%.
The reason we experience morning headaches, daytime drowsiness, fatigue, and lethargy is because the brain is not getting enough oxygen.
Hope this helps.

New to CPAP
I had my sleep study done a month ago . Doc out me on MIGEX for restless legs. after 2 weeks on that I went back in for another study this time with a cpap machine. I used the Resperionics mask. That felt good. I go this friday to get the cpcp machine and mask and will begin using it that night. Will find out what the settings are then. Also have an appt on the 27th with the doc to see about my results and how Im making out with the machine.
I snore very loud and stop breathing once in a while.
I am also taking AMBIEN to help me gett to sleep faster cause I dont sleep well.
