I'm part of the Zero club now....

Post by cpapjack » Mon Sep 25, 2006 8:57 am

I used my Breeze with the X-Large nasal Pillows and a bunch of tape last night and I became a member of the zero club. My leak rate when I woke this morning was 0!!!!!! Yahoo !!!!

My numbers were:

95% pressure - 11.2
Leak Rate - 0
AHI - 2.3
AI- .4
HI - 1.9

I must say, I'm feeling pretty darned good right now.

Congrats!

Now you have to try for the other zero club AI = 0.0

and after that still the other zero club AHI = 0.0

good luck!

Thanks. I'm already a member of the AI zero club, but not the AHI one. Closest I've come is 1.9.

I would say "Welcome to the club", but I'm not yet eligible for membership. Congratulations.

Just leave the smart card out of the machine for a couple of nights. Your readings will all be zero. I've woken up several mornings and realized that I'd forgotten to put the smart card back in the machine as it was still in my t-shirt pocket. Needless to say my AHI was zero.

Thank you. Without the help of all the wonderful people here, I really don't think I would've made it.

Ha. I actually don't have the smartcard in my machine right now as I don't have a need to use it right now. Not until I get a card reader that is.

I had my smart card long before I had the card reader and Encore and some weeks at the beginning downloaded but did not review each and every day. BIG mistake-because when I recently went back and started looking at those results I found 3 consecutive nights when I had 0, leaks, 0 apneas, and most remarkably 0 hypopneas. There have been several other single nights with those results-and I have not yet been able to determine just what produced them.

For the Resmed machines do you have to have the card installed to save the results on or is it just a transfer medium for results stored already in the machine?

Hey cpapjack,

What's your taping method that worked so well?

I've had some sucess with using 3m's micropore in a large strip but I can't say I can have membership here yet.

I'm not completely sure but I think the ResMed machine saves the data for (180 days or 360?) which can be downloaded onto the ResScan card. The card does not have to stay in the machine for it to save data ... only need to slide card in for a few seconds to download data to the card.

So yes, it is just a transfer medium for data already stored in the machine.

I apologize if this is a stupid question, but do most of you really check your sleep results each day or frequently? Do most CPAP users own the softwear necessary to do that? Is it expensive? My husband has been using CPAP for only 5 months and we haven't ventured there yet.

I do now while I'm trying to work out the leaks in the Hybrid and figure out why the numbers are higher. That way whatever I was doing to try to improve treatment is still fresh in my mind when I look at the results. I don't know that I will continue this on a daily basis once I settle on the things that produce the best results.

I use multiple strips that start from just under my nose to just above my chin and go from one side of my jawbone to the other. I then use a chinstrap to make sure the tape stays in place. (tape doesn't seem to like to stick to my face, so this may be overkill for someone else) I eventually want to use less tape, but for now, this has been working great. The past 3 nights my leak rates have been 0.0, 0.06, 0.06 respectively.

Funny thing about these Zero clubs!
When I used Swift, I was a member in good standing ,as far as leaks and sometimes, AI!
Now, that I use Hybrid, I'm a member in good standing with AI usually and with AHI sometimes.
But a Zero member in the leak category? Forget it!
(Oh well, I prefer my club benifits associated with the Hybrid! )
