Humidifier Settings

Post by jnickellrental » Mon Sep 11, 2006 7:23 pm

I have heard people mention turning up their humidifier. I use scalding hot water to start off with, but half way through the night it cools down and my nose dries out. Once I put hot water in again it is fine. My heater heats, but not very hot. Can I adjust it?
Thanks!
Josh

I am new at this but I start out with room temp. distilled water, at first it is dry but is soon fine. Mine is set at 4 of 5. Medications I take dry my mouth. Logic is like a coffee maker, you need cooler water for it to heat. I don't know what kind of cpap you have but I would think you could adjust it. I see your logic but the water has to cool to a certain temp. before it heats, I would think you lose heating time as in, it is in limbo for a time when the water is warm but not warm enough produce sufficient evaporation. Just a guess, like I said I am new to this.

Take care,
Tim

Humidifier settings are adjustable through either menu. Check the user manual. 1 is the coolest and 5 I think is the warmest.

It is pretty easy when you read the section in the manual

The temp level is supposed to be in the 105F range, not scalding hot, it not supposed to be a vaporizer, just a humidifier. If you need more moisture that it will put out on level five it's because you are mouthbreathing. The cure is to stop the mouthbreathing, so you can have the correct treatment.

The cure for mouthbreathing is a FF Mask or Taping the mouth shut. Some can train themselves, not to mouthbreath, but not everyone. Jim

Manual

Unfortunately they didnt give me a manual with my machine, but after I made the post I played around with the unit. If you hold the heat button it starts to flash and you can change it from one to five. Mine was on one so I put it on five - by 3am I was breathing water . I turned it down some to 3 and its working great now! Thanks for the ideas.
