got my flex fit 431 today

Post by bank4cat » Mon Sep 11, 2006 2:33 pm

went to dme today and picked up my new mask flex fit 431. i have been using ultra mirage full face which isnt to bad of a mask seems like i have to tighten it up pretty good to have no leaks and get sore sometimes. this full face 431 seems to be a better fit for me i sleep on my side. the true test will be tonight. the only thing i dont like about it the quick release looks real cheap anyone have a problem with the quick realease breaking?

I personally have not had a problem with the quick release clip. That was the first thing I mentioned to my RT when he fit me for that mask. He assured me that it was more sturdy than it looks. I really don't use that feature. The clip has held up nicely, even when I didn't take it off my face so nicely

bank4cat, I'll be anxiously awaiting your reports over the next few days. I've used the UMFF for almost 2 years now and am really interested in how it compares to the 431.

The Quick-Release on the 431 is a real blast in the morning!
It was a really fast getaway. I liked it, although not currently using it.

Tip with the 431 quick release

Post by Hambone » Sun Sep 17, 2006 6:24 am

I love the quick release also, One tip....

The quick release "pull cord" was sewn onto the inside of the head gear which rubbed against my neck. Had my better half pull the thing off and sew it on the OUTSIDE of the head gear... Much better...

You can also wrap the straps with fleece securing with velcro making them thicker and less irritating if you have to tighten it up to ensure sealing under high pressure periods...

Hope you get some ZZZzzzz's......

I have used the flex fit 431 for a little over six months now. I was also concerned about the release, as it looked cheap. However, I haven;t had problems with it. As have already been noted using some kind of felt to cover the side straps. The only issue I have with the flex fit 431 is the fact that the straps seem to stretch more than they should.

Use the 431 and love it. Don't need the quick release, you figure out quickly how to use the closure on it's own and it is easy.
Highly recommend this mask.

bank4cat, thanks for the initial report! It sounds like it's going to be a pretty good mask for you. What pressure are you using? I'm up around 14 or 15 cm as my high pressure. My UMFF is working pretty well, but I'd like to find another FF backup.

Again, thanks for the report. I'll be anxiously waiting for more. Sleep well!

I tried the UMFF mask it it just wouldn't seal at all.

Any thoughts or comparisons from anyone on the 431 vs. the Hans Rudolph VIP7600? Since I will be paying out of pocket I want to try and make the best choice.

I have a HR 7600 and had allot of problems with air leaks and finally gave up. The head gear is a nightmare to use. I would rate the headgear as one of worst on the market. HR came out with a new designed headgear that they will sell to you. Geeee thanks HR. At around $225 each, its the most expensive mask out there. Don't waste your money.

I've been using the 431 for some time now - and the quick release pull cord is stronger than it looks. I use it everyday and in 3 mos it has yet to fail. Hope it works for you - but one side note, sounds like they are coming out with a new and improved 431.... the 432 in the coming weeks. Sounds like it has more padding - and hopefully will reduce the lovely facial marks that this mask has been causing me. We'll see. Good Luck!
