Hybrid Pad-a-Cheeks - new headgear

Post by ladytonya » Fri Sep 08, 2006 10:30 pm

I have been using the new PACs for the Hybrid mask and "new" headgear, or beta headgear or whatever you want to call it, for almost one week now. I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!! As a little background, I have been on CPAP since December, 2005. I have tried 4 different masks and have never made it through an entire night without taking off my mask in my sleep. The masks I have tried are the Comfort Gel, Ultra Mirage Full Face, Comfort Lite 2, and the Hybrid. I have never used Pad-a-Cheeks before on any of these masks. Before the Hybrid, I was averaging 2 - 3 hours of therapy a night. After the Hybrid, I was averaging around 4 hours of therapy a night. Since last Saturday night, Sept. 2 when I received my Pad-a-Cheeks for the Hybrid, I have had nights of 5, 2, 3 (but those two nights had more to do with the burn on my chin than the straps), 5, 7, and 6 hours of therapy. It's still not perfect and I am still tweaking it, but this is the best therapy I've gotten in almost 9 months of being on CPAP.

I have slight strap marks in the morning but they go away after I wash my face. I pull the Pad-a-Cheeks down over the clips so I don't have the clips digging in to my face like I had before, plus with the clips covered it's much more difficult for my sleepy self to remove the mask. I'm getting a better fit and the straps are looser. Before using Pad-a-Cheeks, I had the mask strapped down pretty tight in order to stop leaks. Now, it's just almost floating on my face. The extra bulk from the PACs have made the mask fit me better, with a better seal and much more comfortable. I would HIGHLY recommend the Pad-a Cheeks for the Hybrid mask! They work wonders with this interface!

I have also been using the new PACs for the new headgear. The fact that the new PACs will now cover the clips is IMHO the best part! I was trying to find another kind of clip to use on the mask (of course nothing worked) because the clips left such deep marks in my face. Since I tried the new PACS...no marks at all! Thankyou PADACHEEK, you took a good thing and made it even better!

A mask without PAC's is like car with no wheels!
Without----you're stuck in a rut!
With-----you really get going with your therapy!!!

When I visit the website http://www.padacheek.com/, I see that there isn't a set of straps specifically for the Hybrid. You've basically just matched up the individual components for your mask, right? I did visit the chart and saw that it would take two sets of the PAC swifts and one PAC neck. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing something. I don't have the Hybrid mask yet, but I was told that it can be coded as a nasal mask so I will be able to get one in October.

Thanks!

Kimberly

I was having the same troubles as others on the board with my Hybrid and emailed them. They were kind enough to make some suggestions including recommending the Pad A Cheeks. I was explaining to Innomed that my problem was not being able to tighten the straps but that the whole head gear is too big. The cross strap in the back is on the nape of my neck an inch or more below my ears. If I pull the straps to raise that, then the upper straps cover my eyes. I ordered the Pad A Cheeks and followed the suggestion on website for the cover for the neck piece. The problem is totally eliminated and the welt on my neck has healed. I can't recommend those straps enough...what a relief. Also kudos to Innomed customer service for their prompt reply and helpful suggestions.[/quote]

Wow! That's pretty cool that their customer service also recommended the PACs. Once I get my hybrid, I'm definitely going to be getting these.

1) Makes the Hybrid much more comfortable.
2) Keeps the head-gear feom tangles.
3) protects the face from the clips.

Great Product! I've used mine every night for almost two weeks.
+ Aussie heated hose.

hybrid headgear too long in back

Post by Maryb » Sun Sep 10, 2006 7:29 pm

Motherall-
I have the same problem as you. The hybrid (old style) headgear is too big or long for my head. The lower strap is too low on the back of my neck and I have a terrible welt across the back of my neck. The lower strap PadaCheeks only part way help this. The back of my neck is raw. I've been stuffing kleenixs back there between my neck and the strap but that doesn't work. After hearing of your success, I think I'll order the PAC to cover the neckpiece. By the way I did cut about half of the bottom strap away in the back and that helped some.
