I haven't posted much here since joining, but I had to share this one:
Last year, I had my physical exam and was referred for a sleep study. In November, I began CPAP therapy. A week ago, I another physical, and my cholesterol and triglyceride levels have dropped dramatically!
I've made only the smallest of changes in my diet in the past few months, so I must credit the CPAP therapy for bringing my triglycerides down over 100 points! Also, overall cholesterol has dropped by 11 points. I still have some dietary issues to address to get the LDL and HDL where they ought to be as they haven't really budged much, but I find the triglyceride reduction purely astounding!
Go, CPAP!

Being a relative youngster (so my primary doc says) I've never had my cholesterol or triglycerides tested. However, I can share this anecdote of my OSA afflicted cousin. She has had high triglycerides for years. WAY high. Seems like at 28 they were something around 750. She was on all kinds of medication for that and high blood pressure which she acquired after delivering her daughter two years or so ago. She was placed on CPAP in April and her doctors have had to radically change her medication. She is now on NO cholesterol or triglyceride medication. The effects are amazing for her.
