Should Guests Be Allowed to Post Links?

Post by NightHawkeye » Mon Aug 14, 2006 11:13 am

How do you feel about guests being allowed to post links?

In a recent related discussion, it was suggested that by not allowing guests to post links, the spam problem could be reduced. The rationale is that spammers only post because they want to link to their websites.

What is your opinion about curtailing guest posting in this manner?

We no longer have a Spam Problem. I am finding so little Spam to kill, I can barely keep the dog fed.

I think, a better solution would be to not allow guests to have the ability to cut and paste. If they had to type in their crap, their fingers would wear off.
Bots, might not be able to post, without cut and paste too.

I think the Spam Policy we have in place is almost good enough! Jim

I would have to agree with Goof on this one. Whatever spam does appear, who cares? Just hit the delete button and voila! It's gone. No big deal.

I feel legitimate guests should be allowed to post legitimate links.

The issue is the unwanted guests with their unwanted links. Again, this is a security issue and the steps taken so far have been very helpful.

I have no problem with a guest posting a link as long as it isn't a hyper link and that is only because of the spambot problems. Fortunately now the spam is fast becoming an extinct thing. I can't even shoot one out of the sky.

I don't think I'd declare them extinct. I just killed four of the varmints.
