Sounds pretty good; but it also sounds like you have a BUNCH of reading ahead of you.

Resmed says that any leak rate is corrected for up to 24 L/min. AS I rad their information you can get quite a bit higher and have it still be OK, but 24 LPM is a pretty large leak, and is very noticeable. They call this levela large leak and at that point the concern is that the device may not be able to distinguish between CA and OA events.

I am not clear on what part you do not understand. There are two problems with leaks, one is that at a leakage of 24 LPM, the device's internal software cannot tell what kind of apnea you are having. There are two kinds of apnea, obstructive central or clear airway (They are not the same but close enough for this discussion). Obstructive means that something or some tissue is blocking your airway and the device will raise its pressure to try and correct that. If your are experiencing a clear airway event, the machine will reduce the pressure to try to resolve that. average leak rate of 1 LPM. Resmed says that any leak up to 24 LPM is not a problem, that their internal software is able to correct its calculation and adjust for any leak up to at least 24 LPM. After that, the machine cannot determine what kind of events you are having, so if you are using the autoset it cannot tell how to adjust itself to fix apnea events.

The second reason that leaks are undesirable is that after a certain point greater than the 24 LPM of the above, the device cannot maintain pressure so really big leaks keep the device from doing its job to keep you airway open.
