How to clean inside Aircurve 10 without so clean

Post by pck3 » Thu Apr 13, 2017 6:37 pm

May be a dumb question and that's why I couldn't find any topics in a search. But is there a way to DEEP clean these? Can they be taken apart easy or should I not touch it? I bought a used Aircurve 10 vauto and would like to deep clean before use. Also didn't find any places that offer a cleaning service for it.

No services because there's no need to clean inside the machines. Just isn't, and if there were the mfgr's would tell us how, just like they provide guides on cleaning the masks, etc. Stop looking for trouble people, just relax, clean your mask, change your fllters and go to sleep!

I have heard of people taking them apart but don't really think it is necessary since the users breath never makes it back to the machine (through the hose against the air flow, ain't happening)

So basically what you have is air coming through a filter, passing over the humidifier and going down the hose to you, air is exhaled at the mask. I would just change the hose, the filter and let it run for several hours. Now if the house you bought it from had any kind of smoke, stinky smells, etc, could be a problem.

I highly doubt the mfgr's would tell us how to take it apart.... after all it is a medical device. Thanks for the info tho to the both of you. I can rest in peace. I took care of everything in the reprocessing guide. Also changed the filter. GOOD TO GO!

" . . . Reprocessing guide?" The procedures to use between patients?
Great idea if the machine was purchased "used", and the health of previous users is unknown.
I would be surprised if your average DME bothers with it.
I am fairly certain that this would beat the heck out of using the NoClean magic snake oil machine.

unless the machine was used in a heavy smoke environment like this one was .... no cleaning is needed
And the so clean will not clean it out ... the only thing that will clean it is a lot of Qtip's and a good solvent .

If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

Here's a supplier that also has a 'refresh' cleaning service. If you have concerns over your used machine, perhaps they are the place to go.

acbio is well known and used to have a page that listed a cleaning service. You can contact them to see if they still do it or not as well as pricing if they do.

I agree with others that you really DO NOT need to have these used machines serviced before use unless used by a smoker, but hey, for under $100 which includes back/forth shipping, if it makes you sleep better at night, go for it.

As to So Clean, many of us on this board consider it a waste of your money because it is unnecessary.
