Checking In After a Year, Looking for Ideas

Post by Kazak » Sun Apr 02, 2017 7:05 pm

When I started this journey in 2016, I found this site, came looking for advice, and got some great feedback and ideas what to look forward to. (See https://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=110146N).

Now I am back, as I really haven't felt the benefit that I would have thought after having been CPAPing for over a year now. I still wake up tired, struggle to remain alert the entire day, and most physical activities leave me drained. I am also waking up at least twice a night, as the following charts show. My sleep doc says things look good on his end, so I should keep using the machine. But honestly, I'm at the point where I'm considering giving it up.

I've also been tested for a number of things for symptoms of fatigue, but all my physical indicators are fine.

Thoughts, comments, suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

Don't give up! Even if you don't feel the difference, your risk of diabetes, stroke, heart attack, and glaucoma are greatly reduced by compliance.

Since you seem to be having "Clear Airway" events, speak to your doctor before changing the settings. I think that this machine is an automatic, so the max can be higher (and the machine will increase the pressure when and if you need it). Remember though that the "Clear Airway" events could get worse with higher pressure, so that's why you really need to speak to the doctor about the settings.

I disagree about the clear airway events - they're a red herring here. But your low pressure setting is very low and not therapeutic, so I would definitely set it at least 2-3 cms higher for a couple of nights and see how that works. And when you post graphs get rid of the calendar as it prevents more info lower on that side of the page from showing up.

At least 2 wake ups where you turn the machine off???
Any idea why?
How long does it take you to get back to sleep?
Are there more wake ups where you don't turn the machine off? If so, rough number??
Do you take any medications...if so what?

Your fixed pressure is 10 cm.
Looks like you are using the ramp starting at 6 cm for a short period of time which looks like 15 minutes or so.
I don't think you need to increase the 10 to 12 or 13. I also don't think that the ramp time or pressure is much of any sort of factor in anything in terms of data.

The centrals...appear more random than anything else..maybe related to an arousal or something. Especially if you report that there is more awake time spent using the machine than shows up at the 2 breaks in therapy.

Nothing really screams out on these reports except the breaks in therapy from the wake ups.....now why the fragmented sleep and how much time is involved might be worth investigating.
