Switched from Full Mask to Nasal Pillow?

Post by skicheer12 » Thu Jul 27, 2006 8:02 pm

I just switched from a full mask to nasal pillows. Question for the Nasal pillow community. is there some type of padding you use for your upper lip area?

CPAP was set to 9 and I switched it to 6 since the 9 was too powerful in my nose.

Thank you for your help.

I confess! I contribute to the slaughter of moles! I have a Breeze interface, and I use two strips of moleskin around the base of the plastic plenum (the part where the pillows are inserted). This piece is made of two pieces of plastic glued together (perhaps ultrasonically welded?), and the edge on mine was rather rough. I filed it a bit but was afraid to do too much filing, so I resorted to the moleskin. Works a treat! A little experimenting on your part (and a few moles! ) should get you set up with the right shape and position. Hope this helps.

When I first started using the swift the area below my nose got real red. After about a week the soreness went away

I have been favoring the Swift as my most used mask also. I haven't had any issues as you describe as I maintain a fairly loose fit against the upper lip. I however keep a snug (not uncomfortable but enough to compress the nasal tube in the nares slightly so as to keep them in place regardless of movement)fit on the upper strap. The silicone material is soft enough I haven't had issues.......not even sore nares.

Persistance is Omnipotent

I don't find I have the need to use anything with my swift.

I do remember for one or two nights my nares were a tiny bit sensitive, but within a day or two more they were fine and I never looked back.
