8 hours plus

Post by RestedRebel » Tue Mar 07, 2017 8:54 am

Last night was the first time in months that I slept for over 8 hours and it certainly makes a huge difference in how I feel this morning. I had not been sleeping well for months before my previous machine broke, so I'm assuming that my quality of sleep was affected by a failing machine and older mask and other items. After my machine broke, there were nights when I only slept a couple of hours. After jumping though enough hoops, I finally got my new machine and the first few nights I slept six hours each night. Okay, but not thrilling.

Then yesterday, I went to the gym and worked out hard. I always walked for 3-4 miles a day, so that was nothing new, but using machines and weights tired out my muscles.Beautiful sleep.

This morning, my grandson, who is sleeping over got up and out of bed. I heard him get up, and although he is only 4, I decided to roll over and get more sleep. I knew he would sit downstairs and wait for me to get up, so I wasn't worried. I'm now sooooooo happy I went with the hints my body was giving me and rolled over and went back to sleep. That has made all the difference. Tonight I will be out late, so I wanted to make sure I got plenty of sleep last night.

Mission accomplished.

Why do I share this info? To tell people new to cpap to never give up and keep working on improving their quality of sleep. It's so worthwhile. Try getting a little physical activity so that your body will give in and enter that deep restful sleep. And, by all means, go to bed early if you're tired. Those extra couple of hours can make all the difference. If your mask isn't working, find a new one. But, please, don't ever give up.
