S9 C-PAP Machine used from Craigslist

I am looking into buying a used 2013 ResMed S9 from Craigslist, as my son has sleep apnea, no insurance and cannot afford a sleep study and a new machine. The cpap that is available for $299 is " AutoSet, autoset for Her, Elite, Escape Auto Escape, positive airway pressure devices. H 5I, H 5I for Her, heated humidifier". This is what the cover of the booklet says. The owner says she used it for one year and does not need it any more. I gather from what I've read that altho it says "for her", you can auto set it for a male. I'm new to the cpap world and would love some feedback on this particular machine and what you think. I know he would have to get a new mask.

Whether you get the s9 autoset for her or the airsense10 autoset for her, or just the 'autoset' model (s9 or airsense10), make sure you see a picture of what you are purchasing. it helps to look up pictures of those models so you know exactly what they look like.

you don't want the s9 'escape auto', the "escape" or the "elite". sometimes people don't know what they are selling and the description doesn't match the picture. you want the one that says "autoset for her" over the s9's start/stop button.

always ask for 'nonsmoking' and pet free. it helps to get the hours used, but a lot of sellers couldn't figure out how to view the hours used even with instructions.

Make sure you know the specific machine you are buying. The booklet lists several different models, some good, some not so good.

You definitely want an AUTOSET, but NOT the Escape Auto. A "for her" model will work fine for a male.

you want the one that says "autoset for her" over the s9's start/stop button.

please don't offer advice when you don't know what you're talking about.

the S9 autoset 'for her' simply says "autoset" and is pink, it's the exact same as the regular silver s9 autoset, except for the color.

to the OP, a s9 Elite is acceptable, and S9 Autoset is preferable to get the right settings quicker.

I'll have to check around other images of the s9 and Airsense10. Pretty sure the ones Ive seen on CL have it, too. Or maybe the rubber sealant fumes are getting to me, hmmm.

There is an S9 Autoset For Her but the machine is the same as the regular S9 Autoset except for the pink color. It seems that ResMed does that also with some of it's masks with pink headgear.
Now there is a difference in the machines with the Airsense 10 Autoset (modes include Autoset, Cpap) and Airsense 10 Autoset For Her has a third mode (modes Autoset, Cpap, Autoset For Her)

So on the S9 pink on the outside is the only difference and the AirSense 10 Autoset for Her has an additional mode.

Finally found a shot of the S9 Autoset for Her....Purple.....and that's what it says over the start button and with the leaves or flowers around the start button, too. Like finding a jackalope in the wild....

The seller is quoting from the manual. You need to know WHICH machine it is. So, get a photo of the top of the machine where the Start/Stop button is. It will say AutoSet if it is an Autoset. I think the Autoset for Her in the S9 series says the same thing (it's just pink). Then you want to look at the run hours. For the S9, it's in the clinical settings.
Push dial and the Checkmark button together for about 7 seconds. You should be in clinical mode then.
Press the Info button (top button marked i).
You will immediately see run hours. That is the number you want because that is how many hours the machine has actually been run and it cannot be reset by anybody.

The humidifier is less of an issue since it will match the unit you are getting. Please someone, pipe in if any of the OTHER S9 units also give data.
