Air blowing into my eyes
Air blowing into my eyes
I wear an Amara (not Amara View) mask (a full face mask that covers my entire nose) and air blows into my eyes. I adjust the mask but I can't seem to completely stop the leaks. Sometimes I wake up with swollen eyes because of it. I can't really afford a new mask at this time but is there anything I can do to reduce the leaks? I read somewhere about a cover you can get for the masks that helps prevent leaking.

Mask liners.

You can even make your own out of an old TShirt or something like that. I think that OkieBipap has a link for a DIY mask liner...search his posts or maybe he will stop by and give you the link to the pattern.
I don't know that it so much stops the leak as it diffuses the leak so that is less annoying but lots of people swear by them.

Re: Air blowing into my eyes
I got the pattern for my mask liners at the following site: http://montfordhouse.com/cpap/diy-cotton-mask-liner.pdf I made my liners from an old, well-used tee shirt. The pattern will work for either a small or medium sized mask. If you use a large mask, simply enlarge the pattern. I printed mine out on card stock to make it stiff enough to trace around when marking the material. I used an ultra fine sharpie and simply made a series of small dots around the edge of the pattern, and then cut them out.

Re: Air blowing into my eyes
Maybe your mask is to tall. If it sits to high on the bridge of your nose it will leak and blow air into your eyes. The bottom of the cushion should fit in the valley between your bottom lip and your chin. You may or may not need a smaller size. The links I posted below will help you figure out if you have the right size. Since everyone's face is different, I'm sure the sizing gauge is not always accurate, but it should give you a good idea of the right size. You can probably figure out the right size by trying the one you have and seeing if you may need to go a size smaller. Hopefully you can figure out the workaround for the short term. Take care.
Here is a link for the Amara sizing gauge. I see some places are charging a $1 for the sizing gauge.lol

Here's a link that explains how to adjust everything.
