Favorite BIPAP?

My doctor is switching me to BIPAP. Anyone have one they particularly like that isn't super expensive? Thank you.

regular bi-level with no backup rate? the resmed aircurve 10s or vauto are really nice imo.

Which bipap/bilevel type is your doctor wanting you to switch to?
There are some bilevel machines that are nothing more than cpaps/apaps with a few extra muscles and then there are the bilevel machines needed to treat centrals or special lung issues.
The more the bilevel machine will do or treat (like treat centrals) the more it costs.

I prefer the Respironics auto bi-level machines, others prefer the ResMed ones.

The point is that you will likely have a better result if you get:
1) an Auto Bi-level
and
2) it is made by the same company you as the one you are now using.

Auto Bi-level machines are more flexible than straight bi-level ones so that, over time, it will be easier to fine tune your treatment to fit your long term needs.

Since you have an Airsense 10 already, a Resmed Aircurve 10 bilevel(whichever model you need) would use the same heated hose, filters and humidifier tub.

My husband was on a bipap machine and he passed away recently, not from breathing issues but from several other health issues. I have a ResMed AirCurve 10 ST with a carrying case in excellent condition along with an instruction manual that I would like to place into someone's hands. It has a usage number shown on the machine of 2,045 hours which I have always thought is incorrect, but that is what it says. He used it only about 6 months for 6 to 7 hours a night. I can take pictures of it and let you see it. It also has an almost new water container. It is very clean and has not been around smoke or animals. I would ask that you pay the shipping charges and pay through Paypal. I have no idea what it is worth. I have checked with one of the one-line companies that buys used machines and they said to check back in two weeks as they now had too large an inventory to purchase anything at the present. I was hoping they would give me an estimate of the price so that I could let an individual buy it. I would like to get $125.00 for it plus the shipping charges. Please let me know if you are interested and I will give you my E-Mail address or telephone number. Someone on this board told me that they expect that particular machine to have a useful life of at least 5 years, so it is still very usable. Thank you.

avoid the ST unless you have central apnea.

I think the OP in this thread has obstructive sleep apnea and centrals....unsure if the centrals are related to the cpap pressure or not.
I have see her cpap reports and it was about half and half but the pressure needed to resolve the OA stuff wasn't tolerable so we don't really know what would have happened with the centrals if the OAs were better treated.
I don't know if the ST would be the best choice given the obstructive side of things is fairly significant but it might work. Don't know what was found on the recent sleep study that the OP had nor exactly which sort of bipap the doctor was advising.

I can't advise which bilevel in this situation because we don't have all the facts yet.
It might very well be that plain bilevel did the trick or it may be that the ASV type is better choice.
We don't know if the centrals were from the cpap pressure or simply a byproduct of the untreated obstructive stuff that was obviously going on....plus sometimes regular bilevel will deal with CompSA brought on by cpap...it's not impossible for it to work.
