Hello everyone, I figured I might as well introduce myself. I received my diagnosis of severe obstructive sleep apnea last Friday evening. While I had expected to diagnosed (based on comments from my wife, who claims she has now saved my life , the 'severe' part caught me off guard. Today I scheduled my Sleep Study with CPAP Titration. I also took it upon myself to get the actual report. Not sure that was the smartest thing...
Here it is summarized below:
Sleep Latency: 4.7 minutes
REM latency: 168.7 minutes
Total Sleep time: 285.5 minutes
Sleep Efficiency: 73.6%
Sleep Stage percentages 67.8% N1, 24.3% N2, 0.0% N3, and 7.9% REM
Total awake time: 103.5 minutes
Total arousals: 303
Total awakenings: 43
Total 39 leg movements PLM 0.6
Apnea Index: 25.6 per hour
Hypopnea Index: 47.5 per hour
AHI: 73.1 per hour
REM AHI: 120.0
NREM AHI: 69.1
Average SaO2: 92.4%
Minimum SaO2: 75.4%
I think that sums up most of it. I'm still trying to figure out what all of this means. But I think I have a good idea why I am tired all the time!
I am trying to learn as much as I can about this in the two weeks before my test. Any tips, thoughts and recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Andy

Welcome to the forum.
This might help with understanding the sleep study.

You want to also be prepared in advance for visiting the DME (place where you will get your cpap equipment) so read this

And yes...I understand the wife saving your life...I get the "I told you so" fairly often from my husband even now 7 plus years after starting therapy. Just be prepared to hear it often and say "yes, dear"

Thank you very much! Both very good reads. I actually work for a retail pharmacy chain and we have a location that specializes in DME. I will have to give them a call.

Just be sure they are on your insurance list if you are using insurance.aroeske wrote:Thank you very much! Both very good reads. I actually work for a retail pharmacy chain and we have a location that specializes in DME. I will have to give them a call.

I will check. Even though the insurance is through the same company, I suppose I can't just assume they cover it.
