How High Do You Fill You CPAP's Water Tank?

Post by jaycee2 » Sat Jan 14, 2017 9:49 am

I don't even fill it to the first line. I use humidity level 2. In the morning I dump out the remaining water and use fresh at night. But now I see in my CPAP's directions that it says to fill to maximum fill line. Is this really necessary?

No, unless the tank runs dry in the night otherwise.

I top off the tank to the maximum nightly with distilled water. I don't dump the tank in the morning, just clean the tank every week or so.

No point in dumping the water daily, it is just distilled water.

To the max fill line, then run it for 2 nights till it's almost empty.
Rinse out the tank and repeat the process.

Tap water...fill, rinse, repeat. Been doing it for 10 years...good water is a blessing.

Full up every night (and it runs dry every night). It's cold here and thus very low humidity in the house.

I run down to about half or a little less every night and I just add more distilled water to full line. I just started using distilled. I was just using tap water and cleaning with vinegar when film occurred.

Had two Mechanical engineers ask the the same question about filling a cooling system in a haulage truck, I thought that was a strange question for someone with a Degree to be asking. As it turned out the hardest part was securing a clean 55 gallon container hold the coolant... Jim

Haha, sorry but the question made me laugh!

"How high do you fill your humidifier"? - well, one night (using tap water as always) I got a little carried away and filled it to the top (way above the fill mark) - it was fine, mask on and the machine fired into life, laid down and within seconds my wife burst out laughing asking if I needed a snorkel!!

Once the water (in volume) gets into the hose then the pressurised air running past it sounds like a cross between a deep sea divers mask and an oversize aquarium ... oh, and the bedding gets soaked!!!

Needless to say, I now take more notice of the fill make and, if sleeping for 8 hours I use around 2/3rds of the supply - about 11 hours and it's empty (but that doesn't happen often)

Fill carefully (or grow gills!!)

I would never go above the max fill line as I believe the reservoir is designed such that it can protect the inner workings of the machine in the event of an upset as long as the wster level is not too high. I believe this is true on the S10 anyway.

To the fill line, run at 4 and use it overnight

I have been filling the tank halfway to the 1/4 line each night and it never has gone dry. Last night I filled it to the 1/2 line and it went down to the 1/4 line overnight, meaning that I used 1/4 tank, twice as much as usual. Tonight I'll start off with a full tank (to the full line) and see how low it goes. I set to humidity level 2.

I fill mine to the line where it says "do not go above this line." Oftentimes in the winter months with dry air I wake up and my humidifier pot is bone dry. That sucks.
Id be dead by now if I didn't use my CPAP gear every night.

Just fill to however much you think you will use. In the winter, I just top off at the fill line every night. I wash my bin about once a week.
