Hello,
I am new to therapy and currently have an Amara full face mask. I have it cinched down very tight due to air leaks associated with the high pressure that my machine puts out. I'm on ASV. I tried to start by slowly tightening it. Now I have creases on my face and the mask is still leaking. I have even tried to use my pillow to help put pressure on my mask while sleeping on my side.
Are there masks or nasal pillows more suited with higher pressure?
Denise

Re: Mask and Nasal Pillows Question - ASV
There are mixed opinions on this one, but the Fitlife Total Facemask by Philips has been best for me as a mouth breather.

I am able to get a much better seal without cinching down so hard.

Re: Mask and Nasal Pillows Question - ASV
As far as nasal pillows go, the resmed p10 and the resmed Swift LT can handle asv pressures.
The p10 is more comfortable although the headgear stretches and can unexpectedly have leaks when it stretches. I have heard that washing it periodically may keep it tight longer.
The swift LT is bulkier but I have to use suspender crimps from walwart on the top to keep the top straps in place. Going over a year with this one headgear.
The resmed swift FX nasal pillows couldn't handle asv pressures for me very well. These top out at 14, i think, and my pressures hit 19 to 21 at the high end.
I have to mouth tape, unfortunately, although sometimes I don't and its okay if the leak rate stays below 1%, but not good if it hits near 5%.
A 50% leak rate would be devastating for me. Maybe if you can get the leak rate under control you can adjust pressures downward. Generally a PS of 10 can handle central apneas, but it varies by person, of course.
Using ASVAuto seems to work okay with wide Epap pressure ranges for me - it really only seems to use what it needs whereas other auto cpaps went to the high end when it wasn't really necessary.

I'm thinking she means the regular Amara Full Face. Denise can you clarify? I have a View and it's not too good for high pressures especially around the nose area.LSAT wrote:Check out these videos on the Amara View and see if they helpDenise_in_MI wrote:Hello,

I was able to use the Amara View when my pressure was running 20 - 25 cm H2O. I am currently running around 15 without any problems.

Re: Mask and Nasal Pillows Question - ASV
Thank you all! I'm using the Amara Full Face, not the Amara View.
My first night was great, even with 52% leak. But, night 2, not so much. Tonight I dread fighting with the mask.

Yeah, I'm realizing that it's not terribly logical to make mask recommendations, as it's clearly completely dependent on one's face. What works great for one, is not so hot for another.Okie bipap wrote:I was able to use the Amara View when my pressure was running 20 - 25 cm H2O.
