Travel CPAP
Travel CPAP
I have some flex dollars left at the end of this year, and I'm thinking of purchasing a small travel CPAP. Any recommendations?

What's your "primary" machine? (make/model)1r1shayes wrote:I have some flex dollars left at the end of this year, and I'm thinking of purchasing a small travel CPAP. Any recommendations?
Depending on how much you want to spend, you should be able to find something at https://www.cpap.com or http://www.secondwindcpap.com .
I would recommend getting something very close (or exactly like) the one you use nightly. That way, you have interchangeable parts.

Re: Travel CPAP
If you are accustomed to the silence of your regular machine, you should be aware that most of the small travel machines are louder. Also, what are you traveling to? Hotel/motel? Camping? Out of the country? Airline? Car? Train? This may also affect your choices.
My relative only travels by car or train so wanted something that just fit into his luggage so he only had to carry one thing into the motel/family member's home. The Respironics or Resmed S9 units WITHOUT the humidifier are very small. You could try out an inline humidifier in advance to see if that works for you. If you travel by airplane, you want to keep the unit WITH YOU at all times.
Looking at the descriptions though, the only real difference between units labeled 'travel' vs. regular units appears to be that the travel units don't come with a humidifier.

I own a Z1 and transcend unit, i use the transcend 4 nights per week for the last 2 years and love it. The Z1 is strictly backup (its noisier).
