dreamstation and dreamwear

Post by JohnBachert82 » Fri Dec 16, 2016 8:31 pm

I am new to cpap, maybe 2 months new. I tried full face masks, quattro, simplus and aitfir f10, I hated them and could not sleep well with them

Since getting the dreamwear It is alot easier to fall asleep and stay asleep, the problem I have is it comes off way to easy, maybe a design flaw. But my ahi is down from a 20 when I started to a 6 -7 with ffm, down to between 1.5 -3.7 with the dreamwear.

Does anyone else use the dreamwear?

I use the DreamWear mask and had similar results. I started with a ffm and got my AHI down to about 3. After switching to the DreamWear my AHI dropped to less than 1 and even get an occasion 0.
Leakage has not been a big problem as looking at the last 30 days there were only 2 nights where I experienced major leaks.

The mask is a minimalist design so correct sizing of the cushion and frame are probably very important. The sizing chart suggested I should use a small cushion but I found the medium worked better. It comes with a medium frame size and it worked well for me. Out of curiosity I decided to see if the large size frame would work better but I found that even though it was just a little larger I had a lot of problems with leaks.
Also I found that if I didn't use fabric wraps I was a little less likely to get major leaks.
Since the mask tightens when the pressure is applied I think it's important not to have the mask too tight to start with.

I wouldn't use anything else. That said, Dreamwear is still not ready for prime time. If you need a frame larger than MEDIUM, it increases by 2 inches with large. Are there just three hat or shoe sizes. I go to the mall and have to buy sneakers a couple of sizes larger because I have a wide foot. As much time as you spend sleeping, you ought to be able to get the right size. I can't use the side pads or the mask won't stay in place. I need the skin adhesion to keep it in place and pull the skin under my cheekbone. Even the slightest nasal congestion gives me that Darth Vader sound. Sleep study said I was MW and used that for over a month. Then I found the chart in the bag. It says MED. MED does fit better, but at times of nasal congestion the MW is quieter. That tells me they could design the noise out. Philips seems to just not care about anyone who is not average. Give it time. Your enthusiasm will dwindle. Some nights nothing you do helps.
Seeing and believing are often both wrong. FOW
