Cured!

Post by lorrpb » Tue Nov 22, 2016 7:13 pm

I was diagnosed with OSA 2 years and started on CPAP. I had already started losing weight before being diagnosed and continued doing so. Total weight loss=148 lb and now I'm of a healthy weight. We did a home sleep study and a few weeks ago. Today my doctor told me I am completely cured with absolutely no sleep apnea! He said he's had about 10 patients in his 30 year career who've cured OSA as a result of weight loss. We are both thrilled. I appreciate the help this community gave when I was getting started.

Don't get rid of the equipment.
I see your "cure" verified by a home sleep test. (Nothing like cutting corners)
Many people now believe that apnea precedes weight gain, especially thin, fit apnea sufferers.
Some doctors still believe the opposite--in spite of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

Very Good on the Weight loss, we have heard Cured before, by many never seen one in real life. Maybe, keep checking it.

Congratulations on losing the weight and curing your apnea.

Best of luck to you.

I think it's wonderful, but hold on to your equipment. Losing weight isn't that difficult. Maintaining weight loss is very difficult--95% failure rate.
