No data on SleepyHead

Post by HeadDoc41 » Sun Nov 13, 2016 2:43 pm

I have downloaded SleepyHead and done all the prep work with profile etc

I have 2 problems:

1. I have to complete the Profile data forms each time log on. Shouldnt it save that and take me to the Log In page asking only for Username and Password??

2. I was able to Import data
The stats show up on the Statistics page
When I go to Daily, the data days show in blue there is a big frowny face saying "Your machine does not record data..."

I am using the ResMed AirAense 10 which supposedly is supported by SH

Can anyone help??

Though I am certainly not the expert in this regard, I'll ask some preliminary questions:
1) Which version of SH did you install? AFAIK, only the latest version of SH supports the AS-10
2) When filling out the profile, did you SAVE the profile?
3) When starting SH you should be presented with a splash screen that has in the upper left "select profile" and contains a list of profiles. Do you see anything other than this screen? If so, what?
4) To your machine: in setting it up did you elect to record full data? While I don't recall if when I set up my AS-10 Auto I had this option, I know on its predecessors that option was present.

There are several different models in the ResMed AirSense 10 line:

The ResMed AirSense 10 CPAP that doesn't have any another name.
The ResMed AirSense 10 Elite CPAP
The ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet
The ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her

The nameless one---the one that's just called a ResMed AirSense 10 CPAP only records summary data. In other words, it records a basic AHI number and it records 95% leak data. But it does NOT record any of the detailed data that shows up in the SleepyHead Daily Data tab.

My guess is that your DME set you up with the ResMed AirSense 10 CPAP that doesn't have any other name on it. And as you have found out, that nameless version of the AirSense 10 CPAP is a semi-brick that records only the most basic summary efficacy data.

As Robysue said...If in the lower right hand corner of your machine, it just says Airsense 10...It is what we call a brick. Aside from what you can see in the LCD window, there is no data except for compliance.

I am a newbie to CPAP-- about 6 weeks now with little to no real improvement. I'm rapidly approaching the "Give it up" zone

I also have just joined this forum today

So if my questions seem lame I'm sorry

After reading the helpful replies from my earlier question above, I' want to upgrade to the AirSense 10 AutoSet model

Can anyone advise me on the following

1. My current machine is covered by MediCare. Can I request the upgrade from my DME and perhaps pay the difference?
2. If I decide to just buy the new machine outright, will that forfeit my opportunity to have my DME and physicisn monitor my progress?
3. I'm not sure the doctor would be a big loss becaause getting in touch and getting a reasonable timeline for replies has been terrible and very frustrating
4. Will I still be able to use my DME for support and monitoring if I buy the machine outright?

Currently I get supplies and masks /parts replacement thru MediCare. Will I forfeit that?

I would really appreciate any advice.

Thanks

No, you won't forfeit the mask/parts, etc coverage from Medicare if you end up buying a machine on your own.
I have a DME for masks, etc...and have never used my Medicare for machine purchase.

It depends on the DME and how helpful they want to be. My DME told me that if I ever had a problem with my machine or my therapy they would be happy to try to help...and this was said the very first day I went in there and said "I have my own machine...will you all sell me masks, etc using my Medicare." If they really care...they will help you no matter what you buy or don't buy from them.

Read this...especially the part "help, I am stuck with a brick"
https://maskarrayed.wordpress.com/
You really shouldn't have to pay the difference.

Where you get your machine should have zero bearing on the relationship with your doctor. Medicare doesn't allow him to have any financial interest in whomever supplies cpap equipment to you.

The first thing I would do would be to have a talk with the doc who wrote you first. If he will listen, explain to him that you need access to your own data so you can make informed decisions regarding your progress. Emphasize how much it will help you in communicating with him in this regard. If you are within some time or policy guideline in terms of what changes HE can order, ask that he amend your script to include a specific data-capable machine of your choice. In support of this, have enough information at hand to support this effort. Regarding 3, if you are using straight Medicare, you don't need a referral to get a second opinion. If you are unhappy with the doc, look for another who may be more supportive. The same is true for DMEs. Regarding 4, if you have enough information to form an opinion, determine the quality and value to YOU of their support and monitoring.

If you are in a Medicare "advantage" plan, it is an HMO, and you may not have much luck.
If you end up buying your own, check cpap.com or Secondwindcpap.
Welcome to the forum, and good luck.

I very much appreciate the prompt and helpful responses to my questions
I will check with my DME tomorrow
I think the sleep doc is going to be useless but my primary care doc will write the script

Thanks so much.

Two links that might help:
1) To help formulate specific areas to touch on in the script your PCP might write https://a0fa1b452dd65abe2907-3115b881cb ... on-LMN.pdf
2) For information about and help deciding about specific machines and their characteristics and capabilities you will ask for in the script https://sleep.tnet.com/cmd (scroll down and search either by manufacturer or class)
Good luck, "victory favors the prepared."
