Though my brother is coaching me along (forum member), I admit I don't understand how this whole process works.
I've completed the home study and I'm going in for the titration overnighter next week. At some point, I'll get equipment from a DME (near as I can tell, the hardware supplier?). But I also believe the Dr. influences or determines the type of machine I get. Or is that the Insurance Co.? (Cigna)
Is there anyway I can influence the type of machine I get so I don't end up with a bricked machine? I'd like to know my stats so I can self-monitor with the sleepyhead software.
I've been trying out a Resmed elite series II s8 with a respironics dreamwear mask that has been going pretty well for me.
Thanks all.

if you haven't already so that you will be forewarned.
Easiest way to insure you get what you want is to ask the doctor to specify it on the order...sometimes the doctors are agreeable and sometimes they throw up road blocks. You never know til you ask though.
Sometimes DMEs supply full data machines right from the start...sometimes they don't.
What I did was call up the DME and ask "what brand and model do you normally dispense" and then I knew if I needed start planning on pushing for something else or not.
Final result for me was my first DME choice wouldn't work with me at all and the doctor was throwing up some big massive road blocks and was zero help...and I ended up with plan B to get what I wanted...but some DMEs do dispense those full data machines as standard procedure because they care more about the patient than they do the bottom dollar.
