Pressure Control vs. Spontaneous/Timed

Post by jmayer180 » Mon Oct 17, 2016 12:29 pm

I am new to a PR System One AVAPS and am trying to learn how to drive it. I read the brief descriptions of the PC mode versus the S/T mode and the words seem to be almost the same. Can anyone explain the difference in simple terms for me, or give a reference for more detailed explanation? What are the criteria for selection of one mode vs the other?

I haven't been able to find a clinical manual for the avaps, just a 'quick start'. I did dig up these though:

https://www.sleepapnea.com/downloads/10 ... fGuide.pdf
http://www.saegeling-mt.cz/fileadmin/us ... IntEng.pdf

weirdly, they suggest TV settings based on 'ideal body weight', and then give height measurements to find what your ideal body weight should be, and then what the TV for that should be... resmed, rather more directly just lists a height to TV formula.

normal S/T doesn't pay any attention to TV, whereas PC/AVAPS does.

I hope that something in there will help.
