pressures

Post by deerock » Fri Sep 09, 2016 12:54 pm

hi. my AHI is very high and my apap is set to 4-14 range.
i set it to 9-14 during the day to try for a few minutes and it felt much better.
does 4-14 find the best pressure and stay with it? is that reliable? may it be the best pressure is a 10 but apap stays at a 5?

4 is the machine default low setting... and quite uncomfortable to breathe at. Unfortunately MDs 'prescribe' that setting because they don't understand that the machines won't magically respond to apneas at a much higher level in time to deal with them... they think because they're Apaps, they will. In any case, you did the right thing by bumping yours, so if you're happy, enjoy!

4-14 is a pressure set by idiots, or lazy people,

the proper thing is to set the minimum pressure to where it takes care of the majority of events, so you don't have to lay there gagging waiting for the automatic function to get the pressure up, since that takes time.
