Just checking to see if any nasal mask folks ever get a feeling in their ears like they're going to pop (like when you're at higher elevations).
Just starting happening a bit more frequent. Only happens when I'm laying down wearing my Swift FX mask. I've lost 30+ pounds and I'm wondering if my pressure might be too high now?
Something I'll discuss with my sleep doctor but just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this.
Thanks

Are you monitoring your therapy with software? You won't know about the pressure settings until you do use software.acctingman wrote:Just checking to see if any nasal mask folks ever get a feeling in their ears like they're going to pop (like when you're at higher elevations).

What pressure(s) are you using?
The sensation could be caused by something as simple as a buildup of earwax or an ear infection (or other things in-between).

Re: Ears feel like they're popping
Pressure is at 16 currently.
I'll check my data this weekend when I install Sleepyhead
I am having allergies/sinus issues too and this maybe related. Never thought about wax build up. Might bring this up with my family doc next week when I have my physical.
Thanks

Re: Ears feel like they're popping
That's one of the main reasons I switched from a nasal mask to a full face mask (in my case I have advanced surfer's ear). With the FFM the pressure is less directed into my nose and is now more evenly distributed between my mouth and nose cavities. I can't say exactly why in terms of physics, however for me it seems to work. Anyway, first explore ear wax, your pressures, partial mouth taping etc and see if that stuff works, then consider an FFM.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Re: Ears feel like they're popping
Dropped the pressure to 15 from 16 and the ear pressure was less. I don't have an access of wax as I clean my ears often.
I've tried 3 different full face masks (albeit, not for very long) but with my claustrophobia it's just not an issue for me. I've been wearing my mask for a full year now and the ear issue just started happening. I'm wondering if the weight loss has caused me to NOT need such a higher pressure setting.
Making an appt with my sleep doctor this week.
