DOT Compliance Cert for Physical

Post by Another Truck Driver » Wed Jul 27, 2016 2:02 pm

I am purchasing a new Auto Pap because my old machine does not have the ability to produce compliance reports so I can renew my commercial driver's license. I was looking at a ResMed machine and thought their 'MyAir' website would enable me to print something that would meet Department of Transportation requirements. MyAir support says the website can track daily therapy but is limited to 14 days and unable to run reports... that DOT type reports would need to come from a doctor or Durable Medical Equipment company. I was going to buy a machine online but they referred me to MyAir for DOT reports. Are there any drivers out there who could help me figure all this out?

Go to apneaboard.com forum. Register and log in. Look for how to get ResScan software...it's free and it's ResMed's software. It will produce any compliance reports you need easily.
You must be registered and logged in to see the mention of how to get the software.

I used to drive in a vanpool and had to do the DOT physicals every year. I had an older machine, early 2000's, that obviously had no data capability. I ended up with an S9 Elite, but an APAP is better. As Pugsy suggested get Rescan software. That is what I used and had no issues. The nice thing about Rescan is that the reports are very professional and you can set them up with your doctor'a name, patient ID, etc. to where it looks as if were run out of a medical office. If you have less than a year you may have to get your doctor to sign a form to monitor the progress or provide additional reports over a 3/6 month period. I had to do both.

On another note, you really want to get a full data machine so if things change you can monitor the data and make the necessary tweaks to stay under the max allowable AHI. I think it is 15, at least at one time, and that is what is important with DOT. I am surprised that 15 is acceptable as most people would have sleep problems with an AHI that high and DOT could lower it at some point in time.

Good luck.
