When you lose wt your face is usually the first to show it, even if it's not visually obvious to you, and your mask might just not be fitting right anymore - try using a liner like padacheek underneath for tonite and see what happens.

Hi AvaM ~~~

Can you think of anyone that might be computer savvy? Child, grandchild, niece, nephew,
...toyboy (my first choice-lol)

Maybe you can find someone who can help out even if it's just 10-15 minutes a week until you get the hang of it.

I am impressed that you know the word APP for iPhone.
I just broke down and got an iPhone too but am refusing to use the word "app"

Helping you with this sleepyhead software issue is probably easier than finding a millennial who will sweat and mow your yard?

Congratulations on your weight loss!

Don't be too exhausted to get the help you need.
Wherever that needs to come from ~~~

What is the leak reading?

It's so basic, I would not bother with it.

System Leak it reads
7 day Avg. 24.6

AHI - 7 day 4.0
and i think 30 day is 3.5

I will tighten the mask tonight see if that makes a difference.

What is the difference in settings in

I have Cpap or Auto

it was on CPAP but i watched a Youtube and it says try Auto....

Going to be all new tonight

(raises hand)

... that was me, AvaM ... just goes to show how difficult it is to be understood in writing sometimes.

I said I was impressed that you knew how to use an iphone app since you described the software as "ugggghhhh"

I totally read your "ugggghhh" to mean that you may be a little computer challenged *like me*.

I have just gotten my first iphone and I still have not set up an account to download apps!

I am however a huge fan of "mouth texting" in to that little microphone.
I am just amazed at how well that works!

LOL

imagine once I actually learn what an APP is?
It'll be like magic.

So, please do not be offended.
I do not mind owning /shouldering being called rude, but I would feel absolutely AWFUL if I thought I offended you.

I was (evidently sloppily) trying to show empathy to what was my (mistaken) perception of "ugggghhhh" in your post.

Words both written and spoken fail us at times.

I sincerely apologize.

Ava - you seem to have next to no information about your machine... not (apparently) understanding Cpap vs Apap, or pressure settings, not to mention that tightening masks do NOT help leaks, but can even make them worse. There is so much you need and we'd be happy to help if you'd like to learn, but we need you here in this thread consistently so we can address different steps and issues. Would you be interested in finding out more about your equipment, your settings, your mask, OSA and Cpap in general? I don't think you're getting properly treated as of now.

Thank you everyone..

Grace.... So sorry... i have had No sleep.... but thank you also.... Iphones are so easy I think anyway.

Julie... Yes i would like to learn more of course. I do pop in & out on the Cpap talk board. with working 55+ hr so weeks and 2 kids in College, and hubby battling Cancer. Some days it is difficult to read posts. I have never been given full tests results of 2 Sleep Study, i do know that i have Obstructive apnea. I have the Remstar M CPAP and i also have a Bi Pap machine Dr suggestion on that machine, i was having air go into my stomach and he had No clue as to why, so i ended up with a Bi pap bc he thought that would help... It didnt... but it finally did stop.... I have my machine set at 7.0 for pressure with Auto setting as of today.

Thanks for the help everyone.... just trying to get some rest or someone this week is going to end up with some lop sided haircuts or color.... oops.

Hi, Ok... first you said your machine's now in auto mode, but you've only given one pressure setting - there should be two - a high and a low setting, so you'll need to find out in fact what those are... unless you think that 7 represents the ramp feature setting which has nothing to do with the pressure settings.... so see if you can find out which are what and get back (please stick to this thread so we can follow the sequence). Second, your machine's name as you gave it is still generic (lots of diff. models under that name) so after removing the humidifier (if it's attached full of water), turn the machine over and see if you can give us all words & numbers underneath... don't need 'serial' # tho, or mfgr's name, but ref #'s, model, etc... plus ANY words you can find on the top/sides of the machine.

Doctors, as you have seen, are fairly clueless when it comes to machines themselves, and bipap would not be the 'fix' for aerophagia (your bloating), but we can help with that too once we know more about the above info. As far as your prescribed numbers go (the orig script, plus what was set up today) you should have a copy of the script itself - yours by law, as would be the sleep study results as well.

So sorry about your husband, and your too busy life, but the sooner you feel more rested, the less stressful those may be for you... and ask anything you need to anytime. Will wait to see what you send back.

Ask your doctor for the paperwork - sleep study results and script. They don't normally just give them to you unless you ask.

You have an old machine that won't work with newer software like Sleepyhead... most insce. co's allow new machines every 5 yrs, so are you eligible?

If so we'll recommend what to get...

But in any case the ramp is not an 'auto' feature - you set the time etc... and most of us don't bother to use it at all.

Your max pressure is quite low, and I'd raise it to 15 for now. The min. may be too low, but you won't know until you have a different machine that allows you to use current software... the low setting is the one that makes a difference to how well you're treated.

The new software (it's free btw) tracks your progress every night, and will show your AHI along with many other factors... but for now check if you can get a new machine and let us know so we can help with choice.
