Size and fit of nasal pillow help

Post by Jodes » Tue Jul 12, 2016 6:21 am

Hi I apologise for this post as I am sure if I kept searching I would find the answer but there are so many posts to sift through even through the search function.

I have purchased Bella FX mask, I just want to use the ears loops not the frame. I have only ever used a nasal mask previously, so how on earth do I know if the small nasal pillow is the right size for me?

There is a picture in the manual but it doesn't really help me, any advice please
Thank you in advance

You don't know, but are you sure it isn't one of the ones that comes with all 3 sizes (as many do)?

Sorry Julie, I have three sizes to choose. I'm just not sure whether the small or the extra small is the right size....any tips for fitting?

It's all about nostril opening size and comfort when it comes to getting the correct nasal pillow size.
Often we can probably use 2 different sizes successfully but maybe one "feels" a little better.
You have to hold the nasal pillow up to your nostrils and gently place it in place and look in the mirror to make sure that the rim seats itself outside the nostrils.
These things don't go up inside the nostril at all except for the tiny tip of that inner cone and it shouldn't touch anything inside the nostril at all. The only thing touching is the rim of the nasal pillow and that's on the outside of the nostril.

With the Swift FX nasal pillow that comes with the Bella Loops....you most likely can use both the XSmall or Small or Small & Medium unless your nostril openings are fairly large. When the nostrils themselves are fairly large when the nasal pillow is too small it kinda wants to get sucked up inside the nostrils and that rim that is supposed to be on the outside will end up on the inside a bit. It isn't comfortable and it can cause difficulty breathing because it squishes the walls of the nasal pillow.
