Post by darco » Mon Jul 11, 2016 8:14 am

I recently had my annual physical and ask the Dr to have my Vit D level checked and lo and behold it was in the 22 range.
I wanted to ask the community what other blood work I should ask for that relates to sleep quality
Vit b1
Vit b2
Low T
Iron
Cortisol
Thyroid T3,T4
hemoglobin AIC (?)

Do you suffer from FATIGUE? That is different from being sleepy. That is feeling weak or quickly exhausting yourself. If that is the case, you certainly want your iron checked. I would definitely get an A1c check because high blood sugars can both cause fatigue and affect your sleep in other ways. Thyroid was something my doc ran before he sent me to sleep doc, so I would guess that would be a good test. Don't know about the others.

As a general check-up. you might want to consider both a complete blood count (CBC) as well as a complete metabolic panel (CMP). The Vitamin B test is the B-12 test. Finally, test for Ferritin will indicate if your problems are made worse by RLS and/or PLMD.

The other tests you indicate seem to OK in researching you issues.

Thxs for the responses...yes its fatigue, day in and day out..
I sent an email to my PCP with the above suggestion and he didnt bat an eye, he just approved the work? Kind of strange ...
Is there any other test I can suggest before I head to get my blood work done? I did have the CBC and CMP done in April along with other test,
I was on gabapentin for possible PLM but after taking it for a month with an increase from 600 to 900mg, it had no effect.
Im just looking for the basisc that I feel my many doctors are overlooking and once I know that isnt the problem, then ill move on.
