Need new SD card

Post by AMK » Sat Jul 09, 2016 7:56 am

My SD card is almost full. Can I just buy one from a store or do I need to buy an "official" one? Thanks!

Nope, you can get them anywhere.

How do you know it's almost full?

the machine should delete old data before it fills up the card.

How do you know it is almost full? How much space is used and how much space is unused?

I've been using my SD card for four years and at the rate it is filling, it will be many, many more year before it is full.

My machine came with a 2GB SD card. I have been using it for 16 months. When I insert the card into the computer, I can open My Computer and see that the card only has 164MB free. It does not appear that I have years left. However after reading Julie's advice, I formatted a 4GB card and the machine has accepted it. I'm not sure how I could tell that the original card was overwriting old data. Maybe it would do that in perpetuity, but I can't find any specific instructions that address this situation. I'll make sure that the 4GB card is recording data tomorrow and just use it. I appreciate all the ideas!

Why are you worried about saving the data on your SD card. Sleepyhead saves it. Have you ever gone back to review your data from 16 months ago...why do you care about that?

As others have said, any SD card will work. The 2 GB card that came with my machine is only about 10% full after 2.5 years of use. I use a PR 560 machine. The ResMed machines may store data differently.

Also should you or other readers choose to do so you can always copy the contents of the card to your computer drive. Then either erase the card or just leave as is - as mentioned the cpap should erase the older data when it needs more room.
