Sleepyhead ignore SPO2 drops

Post by K8TEK » Tue Jul 05, 2016 11:18 am

When I'm sleeping, I roll over a lot, and when I do, I remove the Nonin 8800SL sensor and place it on another hand. This process usually takes seconds, but I'm wondering if there is any way to tell Sleepyhead to ignore these events? Sometimes when I switch fingers the software detects unusually high pulse rates > 200 and SPO2 drops.

If it is that important to you, hit the Off button on your CPAP machine when you start a maneuver. Then let the CPAP machine AutoStart. When you look at your Sleepyhead detail, you will know when the machine stopped and then quickly started was the time you moved the oximeter.

Anyway, why are you using a pulse-oximeter?

Because I am constantly feeling fatigued despite using CPAP for 10 years. I had another tiration study and MSLT last month and get the results Wednesday. I want to be able to show the doctor how low my SpO2 gets. They use ResScan and being able to embed that data directly in the device memory card is crucial.

My weighted average SpO2 is 92%, and i get periods in the mid to low 80's. I haven't seen the test results so I am unsure if my SpO2 dropped that low while on CPAP.

I wear an oximeter to provide evidence.

Most DMEs provide a professional pulse-oximeter free of charge. That includes a report they send to your doc. Many doctors are more receptive to this as compared to reports a patient brings in from a cheap device.

This is a professional unit. It's the one Resmed sells for $1,000.

Are you trying to be funny? I'm not a thief and don't appreciate being called one.

This situation has me worried. Not nice accusing of people of stealing when they have a legitimate concern.

Get over it. It was a question, not an accusation.

Can you post another shot of the chart with the oximetry line showing? It's cut off at the bottom of the chart you just posted.

But, it might be hard to interpret the data depending on how much of this you are doing ---->

My DME charged me $25 the first time I borrowed theirs. No charge on next two. They require an "order" from the doctor and will send the doctor and me a report. Last time I used it for a long weekend...3 reports...free.

Here is another shot of it.

I feel I am below what I should be.

You are not getting any sharp decreases in oxygen levels. But, your overnight average is 92.3%, and I like to see mine at 95 - 97%. Someone more experienced should comment on your 92.3 average.

Your FL index looks great - W-AVG 0.01. Can you post a shot of the graph?

What other health issues do you have besides apnea? Are/were you a smoker?
