'Nother new user first night on CPAP
'Nother new user first night on CPAP
Just thought I'd say hi. Been lurking for a few weeks. Finally got a CPAP machine (dreamstation). My AHI was 54 at sleep test. So far so good. I find the machine soothing, but bridge of my huge schnoz is hurting. I never had so many dreams in my life!

Re: 'Nother new user first night on CPAP
Congratulations on getting started. I have been on for one week, and seeing great results. Hang in there! My nose hurt for the first day or two, Make sure that the mask is not too tight. My nose is now getting better. Be patient, keep at it. If your nose isn't doing better in a week, call your equipment supplier.

The mask should not hurt your nose. Make sure it does not rub a sore on your nose. When I first started, the mask I was using rubbed a large open sore on my nose. It took quite a while for it to heal since I had to use the machine every night. The mask may be wrong for your face shape and size. I placed a band aid over my nose until it healed, and then started using a piece of moleskin on my nose every night.

the excess dreaming means you're not yet getting good sleep, you're getting aroused during the dream. the brain doesn't form memories during sleep, so to be remembering all those dreams, isn't a good thing, sorry.Jwhis wrote:Just thought I'd say hi. get that nose bridge thing fixed and it may help, or there may be other issues.
it's good that you're sleeping, whereas before treatment you weren't sleeping so much as just being passed out from exhaustion... but there is more improvement to be had

5 days in now. To answer previous poster, it's an amara mask. Nose getting a bit better but I'll prob ask for another option. Sleeping much better. Had a setback last night with only 5 1/2 hrs and 37% mask fit, but ahi dropped to 11. The two nights previous were 100% mask and 13 ahi. My main complaint is actually how I feel throughout the day. Not tired but off balance more than usual (anxiety sufferer). Keep getting quick brief falling sensations that come and go. More intense than usual. Not sure if it's the sleep or just my anxiety acting up.

you are going to get more advice, from people more knowledgeable than i. however.i have a small suggestion. if you would, please, go to the control panel and fill in your equipment? then this info will appear at the bottom of your post. makes it much easier fro folks to help.
oh! also, if you fill in the equipment? please make sure you use the text option rather than the picture option.
