2nd wind posted this:

If you are unable to purchase a replacement CPAP or BIPAP machine because you have lost track of your prescription, have an out of date prescription, or 'pre-existing' clause in your policy, we may be able to help with our physician authorization.

What does it mean to deal with their physician?

I am going to ask them about my 6 years old Rx.

Except that their price is only $10 less than at CPAP.com:

New, Factory Sealed ResMed S10 AIRSENSE AutoSet and Accessories $825

Added:

From 2nd wind about my 6 years old Rx.

This prescription will work just fine, and has been placed on file for you, should you decide you would like to move forward.

Please let me know if you have any further questions, and again, thank you for the interest.

Unfortunately secondwindcap.com also requires a prescription:

http://www.secondwindcpap.com/script_info.html

But apparently, amazon is selling machines in which a prescription isn't required so you might want to do a search there.

I would also do a forum search for member Grey Ghost who sells machines and has a great reputation.

Additionally, you might want to search Craig's list with this caveat. Post the necessary information on this site so that experienced members can make sure you are not getting ripped off.

Resmed S9 Autoset is one to look for and many times, good deals can be found. But again, check with forum members to make sure you are buying a good machine at a good price.

PS - If you find a machine on the Amazon site, you also might want to run it by this forum.

Secondwindcpap.com will likely require a RX unless you live outside the USA.

If that's a problem you might contact forum member Grayghost4. I think he has some gently used machines of some sort for sale. I think he might also have some new zero hour machines...he will be less expensive than Amazon sellers I think even for new.
Send him a PM and ask him about what he has and price.

I don't know for sure whether secondwindcpap requires an Rx or not, but I'd check with them to be sure. Lots of people have initiated this therapy without sleep studies and prescriptions. If you have a decent relationship with your primary care physician (PCP/MD/GP) they could write you a prescription that would be valid with online sellers. Even dentists can write them. You can buy mask "kits" (parts that you can assemble) from CPAP.COM or other sellers. Various other sources are viable for equipment and parts. The only things that require an Rx (from online sellers) are the machines and complete masks.
But, like I said, many others have gotten around the legal paperwork in various ways. It can be done.
Also, keep your eyes on the forum pages.......many machines and masks are frequently advertised for sale by individuals.

If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

Hi,

I did come across a local listing for "New"AirSense 10 Autoset with masks for $350 I thought it looked like a good deal and was going to check it out tomorrow. However Based on the pricing of some of the machines from reliable members here I am starting to doubt the validity of the ad I came across. Here's the listing I was interested only because it was New and its relatively newer model compared to other ones on Sale.

Thanks

New, never used airsense 10 cpap with climate line tubing.
From the craigslist ad you linked to.

It doesn't say AutoSet anywhere in the ad that I could see
What it says is AirSense 10 CPAP and the "cpap" part is likely the model name and it's a fixed pressure cpap machine with extremely limited data.

There are 4 AirSense 10 machines
the AirSense 10 CPAP which is fixed single pressure cpap with extremely limited data gathered
the AirSense 10 Elite which is a fixed single pressure cpap with full data gathered
the Airsense 10 Autoset which has both fixed and auto adjusting modes available...so cpap and apap
the AirSense 10 AutoSet for Here which is like the other AutoSet except it has a second apap mode available...so 3 modes of operation.

If it is the AirSense 10 CPAP model....that's the basic bare bones machine. If it was the AutoSet...would be a good price but I would want verification with pictures that showed real model name and run hours.
I get nervous with craigslist ads like this that really don't show or tell you much.
