P10 mask whistling?

Post by erynfaith » Mon Jun 27, 2016 11:02 am

This wakes me up nearly every night. Somewhere around 2-3 hours in my mask starts to whistle. I can also feel exhalation moisture beading in my nose. has anyone else had this issue? do you know how to reduce it?

For background I've already wrapped my main tube and mask tube in a homemade fleece "snuggie" that works wonders. I used to get a lot of exhalation rain out on the mask tube before now I just feel a few beads of moisture most nights. I usally sleep on my stomach or side. haven't noticed a difference between the 2 positions.

Have you tried turning down the humidifier setting a bit?

the humidity does nothing to this... I've set it as low as 2 and got the whistle and bloody noses from lack of humidity. The moisture is coming from me.

Could it be the air condition in the room in which you sleep ?
I know by reading these boards that that can effect your therapy. However I'm not sure which factors effect what. ..

Barrel cozy

Make sure to select the one for the P10 nasal pillows.

it could be... My machine is set at the same temp as the room temp when I sleep. I can't turn it up or I'll never fall asleep. I know that exhaled air is body temp and about 70%+ humidity. the room temp is 72. I've considered making a wrap on the mask but it's such a small mask that I don't think it's a good idea (it'll cover the exhalation ports.) I've looked at the pad a cheek covers but I have less the 6 weeks left with this mask and I'll be switching to a full face. I don't want to order something when I'm not going to use it later. I guess I'll just have to tough it out.

You think the humidifier has no effect on the amount of moisture in your nostrils??

Is the whistle coming from the mask, the hose or the machine?

Do make sure the machine is placed so no A/C vent is blowing on it.
