Re: Should I be seeing a sleep doctor
Many don't see a sleep doctor. Probably there was one as part of the study.
Down load sleephead software and take control of your health. Only YOU care enough about you.

Re: Should I be seeing a sleep doctor
If I was you I would seek a physician who holds an MD in Sleep Medicine, preferably a neurologist. If you register your local I could suggest such physicians.

Re: Should I be seeing a sleep doctor
pose that question to your doctor. ask how he is qualified to follow your sleep apnea and what he thinks about seeing a sleep doctor. a good doctor will never be offended by questions. if the answers sound good and you like the doc, stay where you are.

Learn how to use Sleepyhead software and take care of yourself. That's what most of the regulars and many of the not-so-regulars here do.CPAP_DAD6 wrote:Should I be seeing a sleep doctor

Re: Should I be seeing a sleep doctor
I have seen a sleep doctor twice since my sleep study. The first time was to verify compliance after I first started, and then one year later to satisfy medicare requirements to make sure I am still using my machine. Both appointments lasted no more than 5 minutes each. I will see her again in six months since medicare has changed their requirements. I determine if I need to make changes to my treatment. All she does is verify compliance so medicare will continue to pay for my supplies, and pay to repair my machine if something happens to it.

Re: Should I be seeing a sleep doctor
Doing exhaustive reading of the information posted here will be a much better course of action for you to take than relying on a "sleep doctor" to inform you about the treatment of your OSA, IMO. Good luck.

I have never been to or seen a sleep Dr. My primary care physician ordered the sleep study and he does everything I tell him to... until he died.

Re: Should I be seeing a sleep doctor
I would think it depends on how you are doing with CPAP. If you have problems and you have not gotten the answers you need here on the board or with Sleepyhead, you might need a qualified sleep doctor...they are hard to find. Sleep doctors will be of little help if your problem is with masks.CPAP_DAD6 wrote:My normal MD ordered my sleep study and then my equitment after.
