Filters?

Post by marqisme » Sat Jun 11, 2016 11:30 am

1. How often should the filter be replaced on the CPAP machine?
2. Are the hypoallergenic filters really any better than the standard filters.
3. Standard filters seem to be made up of the same material as electrostatic floor vent filters... I can get a package of those vent filters for $4 and make up a 100 filters...much cheaper this way, is there any reason not to go this route?

1. when they get dirty. The amount of time will depend upon the conditions where the machine is being used. When starting off, check often.

2. hypoallergenic filters filter more out of the air. They will get dirty faster. Is that better?

3. the only reason not to go that route is if you have a problem with your machine. Warranty will be void if you don't use their parts.

the resmed tech manual says "every six months, or as needed... the as needed part depends on the air where you're using it.

my allergies seem to indicate that the hypo filters make a difference. they settle down at night when I'm on the hose.

you can get filters on ebay for far less than the DME price, and not have to do your own cutting.

I use the Resmed ultrafine filters that the DME sells me.
Medicare covers them, and I am not against helping this little Mom and Pop outfit stay in the black.
They are nice folks, and get stuff right--consistently.

Lots of folks change them on a monthly interval. I change mine every two weeks.

That statement may require clarification of locale, given laws in the USA under the Magnuson-Moss Act prohibit such language.
