I completed a sleep study in April & titration study in May at University of Michigan Hospital and have been prescribed a CPAP machine.
I don't have any experience with DME suppliers, so I agreed to use MedEquip, which is run by the University of Michigan Health System.
Here is where my question comes in......MedEquip received my prescription on 5/31 (I know because I called them that day to followup). One week later they call to schedule an appointment for me to pick up the machine. Unfortunately their first available appointment is not until June 30th.
Does this timeframe seem reasonable, or should I be looking for a new DME supplier? I'm just getting frustrated that I have to wait almost another month before I can begin using the CPAP. Are there any other recommended DME Suppliers in the south east Michigan area (Detroit / Ann Arbor)?
DME in Southeast Michigan
Re: DME in Southeast Michigan
The time frame is way past excessive in my opinion....
Are you using insurance? If so, you need to check with your insurance company as to who they work with in your area so that insurance will pay their share.
Someone here might be using a great DME and recommend them and come to find out that they don't participate with your insurance and are out of network...and it could mean a lot more cost out of pocket for you.

I agree...it's excessive. I would keep the appointment , but look for another DME in your insurance network.

Re: DME in Southeast Michigan
Thanks for the fast replies. I am using insurance, so I will make sure that I cross-reference any recommended DMEs with my insurance company to make sure they are an approved vendor.
Thanks also for that link to the blog. Very good information there and I will be contacting my insurance company to verify coverage. I do know that the machine is "covered in full", but there is some great information to be armed with to make sure I get the machine I want and not what the DME wants to offload onto me.
