Thinking stupid while depressed

Post by andy2016 » Sat Jun 04, 2016 12:26 pm

I am right in the middle of a depressive time and just got tested for sleep apnea. Waiting for results. My wife taped me, said i snore like crazy and gasp occasionally. Is it normal to start thinking dumb things while depressed like if I am ever gonna get better, how can I get through today, just want to sleep all day and cry. My brain is so tired, but physically I am fine. Any input is appreciated as always.

Perfectly normal symptoms of depression. And depression and altered thinking can by symptoms of apnoea as well. (If you are tired all day, and possibly have sleep apnoea, you are also not physically fine, so don't be too hard on your self in terms of your physical or mental health)
When do u get ur sleep test results?
Have you spoken to your Dr or anyone about how you are feeling? Self help is wonderful (like cognitive behaviour therapy from live life to the full website, or mindfulness [see youtube]), but sometimes you need outside support to see you through as well.

I am reasonably normal and think dumb things all the time... I choose not to dwell on them.

What you eat can have a direct result on brain function. A good place to start is to write down everything you eat in a day and go from there.

Now is the time to educate yourself about apnea and all the equipment.
You need to be the one in charge of your treatment, which means making sure
you get a machine that has all the comfort features as well as full data feedback,
--so you can dial in your therapy for the most effective, COMFORTABLE sleep.
You can click on the machines and masks in our profiles to read about them on our sponsors' site.
Facing the unknown can be daunting; but education can take away the negatives.

I did blood work. My physician looked at my neck and tongue and first thing he said was sleep apnea. So I just completed a at home sleep study kit and sent it back today. Get results on Monday. This mental fatigue makes you feel like a zombie.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
