Increased pressure and skin rash?

Post by Wantok » Thu May 26, 2016 10:15 pm

My sleep doc increased my CPAP pressure to start at 8 instead of 7 to see if it would help with sleep maintenance issues. At the same time the skin where the wisp mask is has become very dry. My humidity is maxed out to help with congestion. Maybe I should lower it? Any suggestions? I would like to see if this higher pressure can help and not just give up.

Instead of raising your pressure (which is still relatively low, I would try a full face mask... all that dryness is likely caused by mouth breathing when you're asleep and raising pressure could make it worse if anything by forcing an even higher pressure of air out. WIth a FF mask, you can mouth breathe without losing the air and so improve your Cpap results. And your congestion is as likely to be caused by added humidity (when local conditions don't warrant it) as anything - try lowering it instead.
