Question 1: I'm MUCH more tired when I use my CPAP--my AHI are under 5 when using it (and 10 without it), my leak rate is normal, and I've used several mask types. My doctor has no idea why the CPAP makes me so tired, so he proposed a multiple sleep latency test. If I know I don't have narcolepsy or insomnia, does a MSLT really make sense?
Question 2: Have you tried an oral application in lieu of a CPAP? What were the results like?
Question 3: If I switch to an oral application, I'll have an F&P ICON series that will no longer be used. I suspect my sister has sleep apnea, but she does not want to go through the testing. Would it be possible for me to give her my machine, and use the data from the SD card to determine if she has sleep apnea? For example, if I set a pressure of 5 to 15, and she ends up having an AHI of <5 does that mean she probably has sleep apnea? I know it's not exactly the best way to see if someone has sleep apnea, but it may provide insight into why she struggles with depression and lethargy.

Let's see some stats from Sleepyhead soft ware.
Your brain takes time to trust the therapy and allow you to sleep deeply. The more you use it the better. Instead of rewarding its vigilance keep pushing.
Also your AHI is barely adequate - it should be much closer to 1.

Thanks for your response, Blackspinner. I should have rephrased, my AHI is generally around 1-3, with 4+ AHI being more of an exception. I read the article you posted--very interesting. Do you think something like a melatonin pill may be a good solution to turning my brain "off" and inducing better quality sleep?BlackSpinner wrote:Let's see some stats from Sleepyhead soft ware.

Time and feeling secure is the answer. Wear your system while watching tv - a good intense movie or computer game is best. Teach you subconscious that this is safe.
