Mask Question

Post by laxmom » Fri May 06, 2016 8:16 am

Has anyone found that they do better with a bigger or smaller mask than the one that is supposed to be your size? I was told I am a medium size with the Amara View mask but it didn't feel right so I purchased a large cushion and it seems to do better with less leaks.

I'm a newbie CPAP user having used several machines for trials before purchasing my own unit.

When measured using Philips measuring kit, I'm a large, but like you, feels more comfy with the next bigger size.

Thus, in those trial periods, I ended up using the extra large one.

In most of those nights, I chose the Wisp mask by Philips.

Since masks come in so few sizes, and the sizing guides are borderline guesses,
your actual size may not match the sizing charts. (It happens a lot)
Nothing substitutes for trying each mask on, lying down, and at therapy pressure.
There is no good excuse for local DME's not to provide a recliner or cot and a machine for trying masks on.

There's no right or wrong...If it fits and you are sleeping well without large leaks...it's the right size.
