Chest congestion = more apneas?

Post by Red70 » Tue May 03, 2016 4:43 am

I have a cold and chest congestion. Last night I had 10.8 AHI while wearing my mask. Is it normal to have more apneas when you have chest congestion even though your mask is on and fitting properly?

When you have a cold/congestion, your breathing changes.

In general we just have to ignore the AHI results when we are ill with either cold or flu symptoms. It's just not reliable due to congestion/coughing etc which can and will confuse the machines sensors.

Oh good, so I'm not backsliding with my results then!
