Hi,
I was wondering what success people have had using a CPAP on an airplane? I have a long-haul overnight flight coming up.
More specifically my questions are:
1) Where did you put the CPAP?
2) Was the standard 6 foot CPAP hose long enough to be effective?
3) Did EmPower with an adapter work to power the CPAP or did you use a battery?
4) Any other advise for actually using the CPAP while in flight?
Thanks!!!!

Re: Using CPAP on an Airplane
Every airline's different and some have seats with power and some don't - you need to check with them individually. You can take your Cpap as carry-on but it won't be counted against your regular carry-on amount because it's medical. Don't EVER put it in your checked bags as they routinely get lost and/or damaged.
Re: Using CPAP on an Airplane
I've used my battery operated CPAP in flight a dozen times. I never sought permission in advance from the airline. Twice, both times on United, I was told to shut it off because I did not have advance authorization.
Hose was fine. Machine either at my feet or in my lap.
Nearby passengers wondered what the heck I was doing. I pulled a blanket (bring one aboard!) over my head to reduce gawking.
I used the battery. Rarest thing I've ever had in flight was a working power outlet under my seat!!!!

I do exactly the same..... just carry with me a doctor prescription that says I have to use it every time I fall asleep. I was lucky ( or they were) because no crew has ever asked me to shut it off. I use the carry bag to put my machine on top if I am forced to live the unit on the floor ( to keep it a bit elevated from the smelly carpet).

just tell people it's an anti-snore device so they don't go deaf while you're sleepingdvejr wrote:Nearby passengers wondered what the heck I was doing. I pulled a blanket (bring one aboard!) over my head to reduce gawking.
