Regular maintenance of tubing with ResMed

Post by Tassie Devil » Wed Apr 20, 2016 5:38 pm

Some time ago I posted about difficulties with the tube blowing off and finally have found the answer.

In response to a suggestion here I tried wrapping a piece of Velcro (the prickly half) around the connector on the mask. Yes it certainly stopped the hose coming off but it consistently generated a sour face on the read out indicating it was causing leaks. So I took the Velcro off but it left behind a sticky deposit which did secure the tubing so there was no blow off during the night.

But I have now changed my routine. Previously, every morning I disconnected the tubing from both the Resmed and mask and hung it it to dry out (not sure how essential that is but a precaution to prevent the problems that water in the tube can cause). But obviously, over time, that stretched the mask end connection which caused it to become less secure. So now I no longer detach the mask every morning and hang up the hose with the mask still attached. To avoid damage to the hose I screwed a relatively large and thick semicircle of wood to the side of a cupboard and put a flat piece of plywood on top so the hose and mask can hang securely. It works like a charm!!

Do not deride the idiots of this world as they make the rest of us look so much better :-) BUT, avoid being an idiot yourself and PERSIST WITH CPAP.

When I get up, I drop my mask into the space between the head of the bed and the wall. (No headboard)
The hose management system holds it just below my pillow, ready to go in the evening.
Any cleaning or parts changes are done on the weekend.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
