When pressure is high, I rip mask off in my sleep

Post by blownaway » Sun Apr 17, 2016 3:19 pm

I only sleep 4 hrs/night as it is but when pressure goes to 18-20, usually after two hours, I always wake up to find mask on the floor. Don't even wake up, do it in my sleep.

My AHI continues to be low, occasionally coming in at 0.00 and averaging under 2.0 so not worried about lowering max pressure. I need to do it but have been unable to locate the link to Resmed software. Can't recall where I got it originally. Somewhere on this site, I think. My Doc don't know jack-shit about CPAP but didn't hesitate to prescribe it.

You mean the manual?

For the software, check "Pugsy" sticky in the Announcements section on the front page. Or, just do a forum search on "Sleepyhead" (that will give you LOTS of links).

Try taping your mask straps to your face... blue painters tape works best but make sure you don't put lotion on your face at night beforehand OR use soap with lotions in it when you wash your face at night. Hopefully you won't have to go too long taping your mask to your face... most people stop that behavior within several days. Come back and see us again if this mask removal trick doesn't 'stick'.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Blownaway, I do the same thing. When the pressure got to a certain level, apparently, I pulled the mask off with no memory of doing it.

I lowered my pressure and then looked at the Sleepyhead data to see how that lowered pressure affected my AHI and oxygen levels.

My pressure was originally set from 8-12.6, I now have it at 9-11 and have not taken my mask off in my sleep since. You need to look at your data though - lowering the pressure too much can increase your apnea events.
