Anyone got bad cardiovascular health from this?
Anyone got bad cardiovascular health from this?
Recently had a cardio check up with a holter monitor. Says I have frequent PVCs, which are not outright dangerous, but they have gotten worse since then even. Before I would only notice the palps early in the morning when trying to sleep and maybe shortly after getting up. Now they occur all throughout the day and when I am really super tired it stresses my body to where they happen several times an hour and are stronger in intensity, this really worries me. Anyone else have something similar? Cardiovasclar health apparently is heavily effected by sleep, and I still get shit sleep. 6 months on CPAP now, I've gotten used to pretty much most everything, but still I can hardly sleep on it. I'm not bothered by the noises, or the sensation, but I still can't sleep well on it. Just totally feel hopeless, I'm under 30 and not overweight and I see my health slowly fading, it just shouldn't be.

Go to your doctor.
Cpap can only help so much.

Correct XPAP treatment can help your body prevent O2 destats, BUT it can not rewrite your genes and dna, of desolve Cheeseburgers and F Fries. I wish it could, I'd strap My XPAP on my back, and run it all day too. Jim
Use data to optimize your xPAP treatment!

I agree with the frog.
And, if you haven't gotten your therapy dialed in or haven't gotten used to it or aren't using it properly.........it could be like you're not getting decent or any therapy at all........which could explain why you're experiencing more cardio events.

As most have replied...you need to see a good sleep Dr.sventory wrote:Recently had a cardio check up with a holter monitor. With that said.
I suffer from really bad PVC's mainly induced by not enough GOOD sleep.
So the key words you used were "when I am really super tired" is also MY trigger for more and more PVC's....sometimes as much as 2 -3 PVC's to every heart beat (which for me are dangerous) and can lead to more serious problems (for me) like ventricular tachycardia (V-Tach) (why I have a PM/Defibrillator), or aterial fibulation (AF).
BTW, I have 2 cardiologist, 1 is a electrophysiologists and they do commutate with each other about me.
I will tell you I've been using CPAP for more than 21 years and recently had a couple heart ablations for my AF and also an implanted PM/Defibrillator because of V-Tach. SLEEP (in my case) is one of the MOST critical aspects of heart health (for me) and PVC's do and will make you feel terrible and even depressed as you stated you feel as if your "health slowly fading". For ME when I get a few really good nights (4-5) sleep my PVC's virtually disappear (there still there just not as many).
If you've been on a holter monitor then you have a cardiologist. If you haven't had a sleep study it's best to get it done.
Lot's of thing effect how many PVC's I have.......Sleep, Being Tense, Stress, Digestion, Hydration
Get MORE and BETTER sleep and your PVC's will start to fade, eating healthier will allow better sleep, read a book (Bible) to help reduce stress.
CPAP/APAP will keep you ALIVE for many many years, but you have to use it correctly and it has to be set up correctly....
Pick your head up, have a positive aditude, and giving thanks goes a long way in recovery.
May God Bless You!

What are PVCs? Still learning the lingo here, but I don't see that in the definitions file.

when you, or anybody, has a question like that, instead of posting and waiting on people to hopefully answer.Violet West wrote:What are PVCs? Still learning the lingo here, but I don't see that in the definitions file.
go to google, and type in
medical define pvc
and hit enter.

Re: Anyone got bad cardiovascular health from this?
I have gone to a doc and they are doing more testing but the results between sleep deprivation and cardiovascular problems are well established. I practice good sleep hygiene have no kids or pets very not stressful life. I've gotten used to my CPAP but still have huge trouble falling asleep in it. I tried adjusting pressures and it doesn't help. I have AHI always 1.3 or less when I use it. Maybe only 5-6 events a night a mix of central and hypopnea no obstructively. Even when I do sleep on it I wake up shortly after anyway. I just don't know what else I can do

Use the cpap every night, all night.
Cpap is as good as useless unless we USE it!

Re: Anyone got bad cardiovascular health from this?
Right now I have 8.5-13 range set. I was originaly set to 6-12 when I got the thing, but noticed I would occassionally have OSA and had more hyponeas. So I tried to increase to help that, helped my events, but didn't make my sleep any better (or worse) on it. I have very few events, but I also maybe sleep only 30% of the time I am using it, which is worse then when I just sleep without it. My original AHI from a home sleep study test was 5.6, but I know from my prevous in lab study I had a 6.8 AHI from just RERAs before I was diagnosed with apnea.

Are you using Sleepyhead software to monitor your therapy?sventory wrote:Right now I have 8.5-13 range set. Are your pressures changing alot during the night?
If so, could the pressure changes be disturbing your sleep?
Do you have lots of Flow Limitations? Are they bumping your pressures to prevent other events?
Could you post a report?
