Newly diagnosed

Sleep study several weeks ago, My wife sent me off to dr for snoring and witnessed apnea. Here are the stats

AHI 93.1
age 43
weight 297
o2 desat to 72%

Had increasing PVC's and no energy for years leading up to this, I suspect I had struggled with it since my teens. Getting thru a shift is a challenge most days.

Picked up the machine this morning, Dreamstation with Heated Humidifier and Airfit large mask. Installed the dreammapper app on my phone at the urging of my DME. wish me luck!

Hi GlennH!

You really have some special people that care for you in your life, Glenn. That wife of yours must be a keeper. Good for you for taking charge of your health and self care.

Kind regards and tons of luck and good wishes.

Thanks! Had machine on for 10.3 hours, I think I slept a total of 7 between the tossing and turning. Still woke more alert and less dull headache than usual. Didnt slam my coffee like usual, but drank it a little slower. Even had a few dreams which is very rare for me. Overall I am very pleased, but I wasnt expecting an overnight miracle. Still feel like I could sleep more but I will be glad for what I have right now. PVC's (a form of irregularheartbeat) have not shown up yet today, usually I am feeling many of them by now. Yes she is a keeper, almost 24 years together. She is also a snorer and goes back for another study Sunday night.

That is a great first night. Not everyone has that miracle overnight feeling. And for some that feeling is sporadic while their body recovers from years of garbage sleep. Continue the great attitude and know that as you get used to sleeping with the equipment things get better.

Slow and steady will win this race Mask fit better last night, I did play with the adjustments a little. Late yesterday I hit a fatigue wall with a dull but strong headache, some tylenol helped that out. The last 2 mornings I have woke about an hour earlier than normal and while not feeling totally younger yet, noticed that I am calmer and more alert overall. I am committed to this and think that it will improve over time, as this does not develop overnight nor will it cure overnight. My mind no longer feels like 800 browser tabs open with no focus on any of them LOL. Dream Mapper says my AHI this morning was 5. To anyone lurking and not yet diagnosed, if you even suspect you may have sleep issues, get checked out. Developing heart issues, along with what my wife has observed for awhile is what led to her insistence at getting medical help.

I still have days when I would like to nap, but when I try I get far less sleep than I used to. I think that tells me I am getting better sleep at night and that in the afternoons I am just going through that circadian rhythm low point. Usually if I power on through I am fine. I have learned that although I feel much better than I did before CPAP, it is not a miracle machine and I am still 52 when I wake up. LOL. I am trying to pay closer attention to all those other sleep hygiene things that contribute to high quality sleep. It's important.
