Hi all
Today been diagnosed with mild to moderate sleep apnea. Went to the doctor initially for an allergy test and somehow ended up with referral to sleep clinic so I am shocked. Can't seem to stop myself crying! Having the very short sighted panic of "how will I spoon my boyfriend now?!"
Have nose problems (awaiting ENT appointment) so first night tonight on full mask.
Wish me luck
Newbie, hi :-)
Re: Newbie, hi :-)
Your boyfriend will (should) be happy that you're going to be more full of life now, and after all, the mask doesn't have to go on until all the 'fun' is over. Spooning is also fun, but so is staying alive, and people have managed to get pretty creative when using a mask.
Re: Newbie, hi :-)
Yeah we're both struggling to take this in as he says he's never seen/heard me struggling in the night and I'm not tired in the day (don't need to nap, scored 3 on Epworth for what it's worth!) Dr just said she would be "interested" to see if I had Apnea, referred me and Bam! :-S who knew..
Re: Newbie, hi :-)
You can still spoon with CPAP, just be the one in front because the venting from the mask will blow on your boyfriend the other direction.

Re: Newbie, hi :-)
You can spoon before you put your mask on (while you're still awake to enjoy it), or after you take it off. While you're sleeping, not so much, I agree *smile*. But it isn't too bad to be cuddling, etc. when you're awake and not masked up, just takes some small accommodation on both your parts.
As others have said, this is a question of health, so if your boyfriend is really into you, he should support you in being healthy. You'll both adjust, don't worry, there's a lot of us out here that have made that adjustment and are healthier as a result.
Good luck!

Re: Newbie, hi :-)
Thanks all! Mask not uncomfortable but the reason I went to Dr in first place is because I'm soooo snotty... So just had to get up to clear the sneeze from my mask that I've just done ha ha :') not gone to sleep yet, bit of air gushing out so an adjustment needed but nothing that can't be worked on.
Re: Newbie, hi :-)
You need to play with humidity settings - some of us never use it at all, others can't get enough. Too much can cause congestion, not enough... sinus issues. It's up to you.
