Dreamwear weird noise

Post by joannebc » Mon Mar 21, 2016 3:51 am

There was a weird noise coming from my mask last night. Low constant hum like a whale. It didn't coincide with my breathing. I tried adjusting the mask it didn't help. Any ideas? Last night was the first night I heard it. It was all night, not soothing music.

On a side note, I dreamt briefly so one of my chunks of sleep must have been good!!!

Are you new to cpap?
When we are starting out, we seem to be ultra sensitive to every odd sound.
but eventually we get used to it and sometimes even wonder if it is still running.

I don't know what a whale sounds like
I hear the sound of air through one side of the mask tubing when my head is compressing the air flow but usually with an adjustment the noise disappears.

I had a similar problem, along with it just not being comfortable... it was pushing into the side of my cheek. I ordered a small thinking that part of the problem is that it's too big. Hopefully, I'll get it this week
and I'll be able to compare. Are you sure you're using the correct size - mask and pillow? Are you sure the noise is coming from the mask and not the machine?

I have the same mask, and I really like it. Since it has a vent in the front and at the top, could one of them have been blocked? It seems to make some noise if either my pillow or blanket covers one of them. I actually love this mask, and I had problems with all the others I tried

Thanks it is comfy. It hums only on exhale. Low pitched. I tried adjusting things. Not sure why... It woke me or kept me up a few times.
